The title for the upcoming Blade Runner sequel will be “Blade Runner 2049”. From the title we get a hint that the movie will be taking place 30 years after the original Blade Runner. “Blade Runner 2049” is set to be released on October 6, 2017 and in the cast you’ll find Jared Leto (Suicide Squad), Ana De Armas (War Dogs), Ryan Gosling (Drive), Robin Wright (Forrest Gump), Dave Bautista (Guardians Of The Galaxy), Lennie James (The Walking Dead) and Harrison Ford whom once again will be playing Rick Deckard. Denis Villeneuve (Sicarrio) will be directing and the Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson will create the soundtrack to the movie

Academy Award winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) is set to join the previously announced cast of Alcon Entertainment’s BLADE RUNNER sequel which includes Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James and Dave Bautista, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicarrio, Prisoners) is directing the film to be released October 6, 2017. The film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories.
The sequel is set several decades after the 1982 original, with Harrison Ford reprising his iconic role as Rick Deckard. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Story details are not being revealed.

Blade Runner 2 Concept Art and what we can expect
Denis Villeneuve has in talks with Entertaiment Weekly said that the story will continue to take place in Los Angeles and along the west coast. He describes the pre-production as a “terror-period” and that the climate will be much worse in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, the landscape will look rather different this time – if anything, the weather will be even more inclement than it was in the 1982 original.
“The climate has gone berserk,” Villeneuve explained; “the ocean, the rain, the snow is all toxic.”
During talks with Hampton Fancher, responsible for turning Philip K. Dick’s 1968’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? into Blade Runner’s screenplay, Fancher said
“Blade Runner was a dream. We just have to dream again and not worry too much about logic” and that removed so much pressure and gave Villeneuve the key to move forward

Academy Award nominated actor Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) is set to join the previously announced cast of Alcon Entertainment’s BLADE RUNNER sequel which includes Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri and Dave Bautista, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove on June 28’th.

Abdi is best known for his acting debut in the role of a Somali pirate in Paul Greengrass’ Captain Phillips, which earned Abdi an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor as well as five additional nominations for the film including Best Picture. He also earned Golden Globe, BAFTA and SAG nominations for that role. Earlier this year Abdi appeared in Bleeker Street Media’s thriller Eye in the Sky alongside Helen Mirren and Aaron Paul.

Swiss Actress Carla Juri joins the upcoming Blade Runner cast
Alcon Entertainment reports that Swiss Actress Carla Juri is the latest to join the upcomming Blade Runner cast which as of now, besides Carla Juri consists of Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and Dave Bautista. Production is set to start in July 2016 and the movie is set to be released worldwide on October 6, 2017.

Alcon Entertainment’s sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 masterpiece BLADE RUNNER, starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista will now be released worldwide on October 6, 2017 instead of January 12 2018 which was the earlier US release date. Warner Bros will release the film in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all overseas territories.
There are also two more actresses being added to the cast that will star in the Blade Runner sequel. Ana De Armas and Sylvia Hoeks .
Cuban born Ana de Armas began her career in Spanish language film and television in Cuba, then later Spain. She will be seen in two major motion pictures releasing this August, including The Weinstein Company’s boxing biopicHands of Stone, in which she appears alongside Robert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez, and Warner Bros.’ comedic drama War Dogs starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller.
Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson says “We think Ana is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming international actors in the world today, and we are thrilled she will be playing such an important part in this sequel.”
Netherlands-born film, stage and television actress Sylvia Hoeks has starred in numerous Dutch and European television series and films, including the title role in the award winning Tirza, a local box office hit directed by Rudolf van den Berg, which was the official Dutch entry for Best Foreign Language film in 2010. Hoeks has been nominated for and/or won several acting awards for leading and supporting roles, including in such films as Het Meisje en de Dood, Tirza,Duska, and the box office hit The Storm, among others.
