Is Harrison Ford looking to be in the next Blade Runner…or Not?

A report a from a few days ago said he was in talks to be in the possible sequel (that may also be directed by Ridley Scott). From Den of Geek…

The line coming out from the project was originally that Scott would be the only person returning, though, but it seems that might not be the case. In fact, we might just be seeing Deckard again.
For, according to Twitch Film, “Harrison Ford has entered into early talks to join the new Blade Runner”.
Obviously, this hasn’t been confirmed yet, and given Ford’s comments about Blade Runner in the past and his thoughts on it, it’d be something of a surprise anyway. But if true? Well, it’d suggest that the new Blade Runner film might just be next on Ridley Scott’s always-packed schedule, once he’s done and dusted with Prometheus.

But, now it seems the producers, Alcon Entertainment, are denying the rumor. From Deadline…

“It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in Blade Runner,” Kosove told me. “To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we’re going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it. The casting of the movie could not be further from our minds at this moment.”

I am sure a lot of things will change before this gets off the ground, so this is really just an excuse for us to see our favorite film in the news again. So please don’e let this news ruin, or make your day…unless it was made because you got to think about your favorite movie too. 😉

Ridley Scott & "Prophets of Science Fiction"

Executive Producer Ridley Scott presents Prophets of Science Fiction.
The “Science Fiction” of the past has now simply become “Science”. And the science of the future was strangely prophesied by a group of visionaries whose dreams once may have deemed them renegades and “mad scientists,” have become reality.

There will be one episode about Phillip K. Dick that will air on November 15’th 2011
Philip K. Dick
Premiere: Wednesday, November 16 at 10PM e/p
Literary genius, celebrated visionary, paranoid outcast: Writer Philip K. Dick lived a life of ever-shifting realities straight from the pages of his mind-bending sci-fi stories. His books have inspired films like Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report. His ideas have influenced the development of real-life breakthroughs in everything from robotics to law enforcement. The brilliant, troubled sci-fi legend’s work confronts readers with a deceptively simple question: What is reality?

Yes, Questions (and Christmas greetings)

This website has gone thru a massive update as I think many of you might have noticed and this post will try and explain how and why.  If you have any questions about anything then please drop me a line and I will do my best to give you answers to any questions that you might have.

The website is now based upon WordPress. So now all the older “Blade Runner news posts” are being posted as “blog posts” (instead of being in the old “News Archive”) this makes the news easier to find (again, if you want help understanding all of this technical mumbojumbo then click here). Im pretty sure that you’ll have no problems finding what they are looking for. Everything that you could find on the old version of Los Angeles, 2019 has been added to the version you see now.

The only small problem is that things have changed and are still being worked upon.

 • The old forum is still online and I have imported all of the posts and users to something called “Buddypress” which integrates the forum with the rest of the website. I however have’nt activated the “Buddypress” software (but you can login, comment on any news post with your old user details)
 • The Blade Runner image gallery is also still online but looks and works a bit different, if you rather use the old version of the Blade Runner image archive then you can still do so too.

So, I hope you will enjoy your visit to the Los Angeles, 2019 website and feel free to post a comment on anything or send some feedback if you have any questions.
Oh, and one last thing..
Merry Christmas and a happy new Blade Runner year (8 more years to go until it’s 2019 :))

UNTITLED THEATER COMPANY #61 TO HOST FUNDRAISER
TO FREE ANDROID SLAVES ON MARS

Tickets $40
Call 212-352-3101
Or visit www.untitledtheater.com

On December 4th, 2010 Untitled Theater Company #61 (UTC61) will host a benefit for the Free the Androids movement, a movement devoted to the plight of the enslaved androids on Mars. UTC61’s current production of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, a stage adaption of the Philip K Dick novel, which runs at 3-Legged Dog November 18th through December 12th was the inspiration for the fundraiser. Proceeds may also be used to help benefit the theater company.

When asked what first led him to consider the plight of artificial intelligence, Artistic Director Edward Einhorn said, “The more I dug into the material, the more aware I became of the plight of androids on Mars. We on Earth know only those androids who have escaped and gone rogue–driven rogue, I should say, by their enslavement. Mercer teaches us empathy for sheep, but what of electric sheep? What of electric humans? Empathy should extend to all.” When asked to comment on the rumor that Buster Friendly himself would leave his studio to appear at the event, Einhorn declined to respond but did note that “This will be a bounty hunter free zone. Androids can feel free to attend with an assurance of their own safety.” All androids and sympathizers are welcome to come dressed for the occasion.

DADOES goes Theater

The Untitled Theater Company #61 will be showing their adaptation of “Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep” in New York from November 18’th to December 11 ( Download the Press Release .PDF )

An adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s sci fi classic about androids and a bounty hunter, Rick Deckard, who loves them/loves to kill them.  The book inspired the film Blade Runner, but this adaptation returns to the original novel’s ideas about a post-apocalyptic world seeking resurrection through the rediscovery of empathy.  The production uses innovative video techniques to blur the lines between humanity and technology, finding the soul within the machine..
