Latest Blade Runner 2 (Androids Dream?) Rumours

So, news concerning the “Blade Runner 2” movie floats around the net and here are some of the latest news.

Ryan Gosling will (still in negotiations for doing the movie) be the central character and Ridley Scott has said that there might be additional sequels (with Gosling).
Denis Villeneuve was not Ridley’s the first choice for doing the next Blade Runner movie, Ridley Scott whom has worked on a sequel for years got rejected when he offered the movie to his first choice on doing the movie.
The movie will once and for all settle and show that Deckard are an Replicant

On the whole Deckard being a Replicant, Ridley Scott says

Of course he’s a bloody Replicant! He’s going to have to admit it… I’m not going to tell you [how the question of replicant expiration is addressed]. You’ll have to see the story. It’ll all make sense.

On getting rejected by his choice of director of “Blade Runner 2”

“I asked somebody before, who I though would be right – I would rather not say who it is. He just said ‘I’m not going to do that, I’m never going to follow through on that

"Androids Dream" might be the title of the upcoming Blade Runner Movie

According to BBC and Independent.co.uk domain names including bladerunnerandroidsdreammovie.com and androidsdreammovie.com have been registered by a company that has been used in the past by Warner Bros.
So, it seems like the upcoming Blade Runner movie will be entitled “Blade Runner: Androids Dream”. So far, not much is known about the project besides that Harrison Ford will be in the movie, Ryan Gossling is in negotiations to star in the movie and that will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, Roger Deakins will be the Cinematographer and the Screenplay is written by Hampton Fancher (Ridley Scott & Michael Green is credited with “Story” at IMDB)

Ridley Scott talks Star Wars and why he won't direct the next Blade Runner

Deadline has published a great interview with Ridley Scott in which he talks about how Star Wars got him to do Alien instead of Tristan & Isolde. This is a really interesting interview which also let’s us know how he’s makes some of the decisions he does when he films.
The reason to why he’s not directing the next Blade Runner seems to be having or wanting to continue working on the next Prometheus film.

DEADLINE: Why didn’t you direct the sequel?
SCOTT: Alcon bought the title, and asked if I had any ideas. I did. So fundamentally it’s my essay about what happens and what the film is about. I was going to get writers, but decided to call up my old buddy Hampton Fancher because he walks the walk and talks the talk, albeit in these awful sandals. We came up with a nice tight target. He said he wouldn’t write the screenplay, but wrote a short novel. This was one of the writers I had the best experience with, on the original Blade Runner, meeting him every day, polishing the script. We’d solve one problem and there would be another. It drove him crazy but what happened is that what started off as a small contained play inside an apartment, and into an epic. The new one, we’ve got a very good director in Denis Villenueve. He has taken my script, from Hampton and Michael Green, and that’s what he’ll make. I can’t direct them all, and I have to do Prometheus.

Vid-Phone (outside Taffey Lewis's place) for sale at Propstore (Anybody got £ 30.000 to spare ?)

The Vid-Phone that Deckard uses when he calls Rachael (The scene outside Taffey Lewis’s “The Snake Pit”) is for sale at Propstore. The bidding for the Vid-Phone starts at £10.000 and is one of many items in the Entertainment Memoribilia Live Auction that’s set to the 23’rd of September at The Odeon BFI IMAX theatre in Waterloo, London, England.
The listing for the Vid-Phone says that most of the electronics are present but untested and a replica Vid-Phone access card is included. The Vid-Phone also shows minor wear due to production use and age and has a crack in the plastic along the top perimeter. It remains otherwise in very good condition. Bud Yorkin, co-executive producer of Blade Runner, dies at 89

Bud Yorkin, the un-credited co-executive producer of Blade Runner (and also producer of the still untitled Blade Runner movie that will be directed by Denis Villeneuve) died Aug. 18 of natural causes at his home in the Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles. He was 89.
Bud Yorkin whom together with Jerry Perenchio is the people behind “The Blade Runner Partnership” and also the people whom got most of ownership to the Blade Runner movie due to that “The Blade Runner Partnership” had to pay the extra funds when the movie when the production went over it’s budget. “The Blade Runner Partnership” also got creative control over the film when filming went over budget and got the power to add the happy ending and also had a strong push for the adding of the voice-over.

Photos of the Blade Runner Blimp (on display at Warner Bros.)

If you by any chance happen to be in Hollywood, you should take Warner Bros. Studio Tour (costs around $60). Not only will you walk on the backlot where the streets of Los Angeles, 2019 was filmed, You also get to see some Hollywood memorabilia and among those items are the Blimp (whom told everyone to go to the colonies, a message paid for by The Shimago/Dominguez Corporation). Brian Boskind was kind enough to thru the magic of Facebook let me know that the Blimp was there on display and he took some pictures of it that I got his approval to publish.
The blimp is very detailed but is also very hard to get a full and detailed view of in the movie. On these pictures You can see details that I guess not may people has seen before.

More wonderful Blade Runner art from Mark Raats

Artist Mark Raats has created another wonderful Blade Runner piece, this time with Rick Deckard as the subject of choice.
The piece is called “I’m Deckard – B26354” and was created using Gouache paint and Prismacolor pencils on board – 24 x 36 inches.

12 time Oscar nomineted cinematographer Roger Deakins reunites with Denis Villeneuve on "Blade Runner 2"

12-time Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins will reteam with director Denis Villeneuve on Alcon Entertainment’s sequel to “Blade Runner,” Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson announced Wednesday.
Roger Deakins (Shawshank Redemption, No Country For Old Men, Skyfall, True Grit, “O Brother, Where Art Thou”) whom has worked with Denis Villeneuve on “Prisoners” & “Sicario” will once again work together in the still untitled Blade Runner sequel
The “Blade Runner” sequel is scheduled to start principal photography next summer. The story takes place several decades after the conclusion of the original 1982 movie. Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard.
Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original) and Michael Green have written the screenplay based on an idea by Fancher and Ridley Scott, who directed the original adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”
“Roger is an extraordinary talent and we are very excited that Denis and Roger have chosen to continue their collaboration in bringing the sequel to ‘Blade Runner’ to the big screen,” Kosove and Johnson said in a joint statement.
Roger Deakins is represented by ICM Partners.
